The "I'm Just Trying to Get to Thanksgiving", edition.

Ipod shuffled to Marvin Gaye, "What's Going On".   Christmas been creeping up since September. We saw decorations in the stores even then. It ramped up after Halloween. And now it's in full force. Except we haven't celebrated Thanksgiving yet. But I was in Macy's last week and they had another one of their ridiculous sales.  I bought a few gifts for Shawn. But she's my baby. I can't help it. Brian also showed me a few watches he liked (drooled over).  And I showed him some jewelry I liked. But still.  Lol.

The Temptations, " I Wish it Would Rain".  I already mentioned I'm going to send a Honey Baked Ham dinner to Shawn. Well not a ham. She prefers the turkey breast.  And it comes with 2 sides. I was going to send a ham also but she claimed that that would be too much for her and her roommate. I think there's never too much. Lol. But I'll respect her wishes. :-)  She also mentioned that she and her friends will have a potluck or something since none of them are traveling "home" for Thanksgiving.  Oh and yeah, I've already purchased her round trip ticket out here for Christmas. I like to get that out of the way before prices spike.  Ignore the fact that I'm whining about Christmas being pushed on me before I'm ready and yet I'm already planning and purchasing. Shhhh.

Lakeside, "Fantastic Voyage". Funk!!  I've planned my Thanksgiving dinner.  I asked Dad to invite his friend Carl. Dad and Mom and Carl and his wife were very good friends. Carl's wife died about 2 weeks after Mom.  So now once a month Dad and Carl get together. Carl is in an independent living or something center.  The center was able to provide the services his wife needed, but allowed Carl to still be independent.  Anyway. It's a full service place. Carl accepted the invitation.  I'm sure Mom would have wanted me to extend the invitation to Carl. And it's my pleasure. Brian or Dad will pick him up on Thanksgiving day. I'm also waiting for him to let me know what special dish I can make for him.  My menu?  I'll buy Honey Baked ham and a smoke turkey breast. I'll make potato salad, sausage dressing, gravy, macaroni and cheese, candied yams and fresh green beans. There will also be cranberry sauce. Dessert will be pumpkin pie (courtesy of Boulder Station Casino - lol), Apple pie and ice cream.  Yes. I know. It's a lot for four people. I plan on sending some home with Carl. Everyone needs leftovers!!!

James Brown, "Cold Sweat, Pt1".  Hey. I saw a video of James Brown singing "It's a Man's World" with Pavarotti.  Amazing!!  Pavarotti sang in opera style, in italian. Back to Thanksgiving.   Now all this takes planning. It take extra planning to work around my dialysis schedule. Here's the thing. At my treatment center in Detroit, we had a holiday schedule. The week of Thanksgiving, instead of MWF, I'd go Sunday, Tuesday, Friday. That schedule would allow me to get a lot done on Wednesday. But at this clinic, there is no special schedule. Yes. There are folk who'll dialyze on Thanksgiving day. :-(   Anyway. I'll do the potato salad and green beans on Tuesday. Candied sweet potatoes on Wednesday and the rest on Thursday. I think this will work.  And as always, Brian, my sous chef, will assist. <3.  Wednesday will be a crap shot. Not sure how I'll feel after treatment, but I think I can get the dish done at least by the evening.

Kool Moe Dee, "Wild, Wild West".  I want to get a floral arrangement and a door decoration. Make the apartment look festive, but appropriate for the holiday.  Oh and I got Bath and Bodyworks Wallflowers. Smells sooooo good. I placed one in the hallway outside the apartment near our door. Lol. A treat for the nearby residents. :)  Smells like vanilla.

Signing off with Vanessa Williams, "Dreamin'". The weather out here is still mild. I'm marveling that we're in the 70s and Denver is frigid. It's really not that far from here. And it's even warmer south of Vegas, in Laughlin.  And a note to my cousins....still haven't baked a turkey!!!!  Lol. How about you?  Have a great weekend. Stay warm if you're somewhere cold. And yeah, I'm ecstatic that I'm not. ;-).
