Pat's Adventures in Diaysis, the "I'm Still Sleepy and don't Feel Like Telling a Story this Morning Edition".  iPod shuffled to Carole King, "Its to Late". I like every song on that album.  Yes I said album. Lol

I'll pick up the story on Friday.  I don't feel like fighting the ipad or safari or google and this blog interface today.  I do want to ask a question.  On the way to dialysis, we were listening to Al Green.  The 1st time I heard him, I liked him.  I liked him so much, that I didn't mind the plaid suits. It was the 70's after all. Lol.  I also liked Joe Tex, Johnny Guitar Watson, and Guns and Roses the 1st time I heard them.  My question to you is, which artist or group did you take to instantly ?

Signing off with "What is Hip", Tower of Power.  Saw an entertainer in Vegas years ago at the Rio, Earl Turner.  His band played "What is Hip".  Gave Tower of Power a run for the money.  The band director was just as talented as Earl Turner. Lol.

Oh oh. I want to tell you about my favorite Vegas lounge lizard.  When my parents 1st moved to Vegas, mom took me to her favorite dive, the old Bourbon Street casino on Flamingo.  I wandered to the back wall to play a slot machine, and then I heard Bobby Brown, "My Perogative".  I looked up and saw     http://www.cookejarr.com/    Every Black person in the casino wandered over there in absolute amazement, then proceeded to enjoy the show.  Cook E Jarr did a full set of R&B and Hip Hop.  Just him and his keyboard.  Lol.  For years after I'd drag Brian around to casinos and dives to see Cook E Jarr.  His shows were always packed.

Ok really signing off with the Originals, "Baby, I'm for Real".  That'll put me to sleep.  Leaving you with the video of Cook E Jarr.  Enjoy.

  2. Nice. One of the first groups that I took to was Chicago. Daddy knew Earl Turner. My parents and I lived in Vegas for about twelve years. Daddy was just as social there as he was in Detroit (smile). Every last one of my memories are connected to some song because I just love music. I think it's so nice that you incorporate song titles and artists into your ” adventures” in your blog. I'm a huge fan, Pat. We go WAY back! I'm so proud of you. Stay strong, girl. XOXO, Val
